Sherried Walnut Cookies

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 30
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 1/4 teaspoon anise extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons dry

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350.
  • 2 cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
  • 3 beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
  • 4 mix in 1/2 cup of walnuts, rind, and anise extract.
  • 5 add flour and alternately, beginning and ending with flour.
  • 6 spread the remaining walnuts on a plate.
  • 7 drop 1-inch balls of dough into the nuts, roll, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • 8 bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • 9 for holiday cookies, press a sliver of candied cherry into the center of each cookie before baking.
