Sherried Walnut Cookies

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
- 1/4 teaspoon anise extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons dry
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350.
- 2 cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
- 3 beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
- 4 mix in 1/2 cup of walnuts, rind, and anise extract.
- 5 add flour and alternately, beginning and ending with flour.
- 6 spread the remaining walnuts on a plate.
- 7 drop 1-inch balls of dough into the nuts, roll, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- 8 bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- 9 for holiday cookies, press a sliver of candied cherry into the center of each cookie before baking.
