Simple Sauteed Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mushrooms, white button sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 -3 green onions, sliced

Recipe

  • 1 heat a non stick skillet over medium heat until pan reaches heat.
  • 2 add in the mushrooms, butter and scallions.
  • 3 let them do their thing, tossing occasionally until the desired consistancy you like.
  • 4 can't get any easier -- add in a little red if you like, or maybe a few herbs but this is just as good as it is.

Simple Sauteed Zucchini

Ingredients

  • Servings: 2
  • 1/4 sliced onion (in strips)
  • 1 zucchini, cut into thin circles
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

Recipe

  • 1 melt the margarine in a pan.
  • 2 saute the garlic and onion in the butter until soft.
  • 3 add the zucchini and cook until it as done as you desire (i cooked ours for about 10 minutes).

Simple Sausage And Swiss Cheese Mini Pizzas

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 10 refrigerated biscuits, regular size (1 package)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb italian sausage, remove meat from casings (use spicy if you like heat)
  • 1 cup sweet onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil (chopped or sliced)
  • 1/2-1 cup spaghetti sauce or 1/2-1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup swiss cheese, grated

Recipe

  • 1 on 2 baking sheets covered with either parchment paper or a silicone non-stick baking mat, place 5 biscuits on each. with your fingers, press biscuits down and stretch them until they are about 6 inches wide. they will be quite thin. bake crusts for the same time that the package says to cook the biscuits or until lightly browned.
  • 2 while the crusts are baking, heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. add sausage meat and break up as you stir, for about 3 minutes. add onion and sauté for 5 more minutes. turn off heat when meat is cooked and onions are soft. stir in basil.
  • 3 when pizza crusts are done, add a spoonful of sauce to the top of each one, using as much or as little as you like. divide sausage mixture between the crusts. top with grated cheese.
  • 4 bake for 8 to 10 more minutes or until cheese is melted. make sure that crusts do not burn.
  • 5 cut and serve.

  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 3 slices serrano ham
  • 3 slices parma ham
  • 50 g rocket
  • 1 mozzarella cheese, ball sliced
  • 2 half baked buns
  • butter (optional) or salt (optional) or pepper (optional) or marinated olives (optional) or garlic (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 bake the buns according to package instruction. cut open and leave to sit for a few minutes so the inside can cool down.
  • 2 assemble the sandwiches: pile rocket leaves on one half of the bun, then the tomato slices, 3 slices of ham. top with the other half of the bun.

Simple Savory Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon cultured butter (like lactancia)
  • 1 teaspoon white
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or 1/2 teaspoon garlic, granules

Recipe

  • 1 turn off the burner you just cooked your pasta on.
  • 2 while you are draining your pasta, mix all ingredients except cheese in your pasta pot over this burner.

  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar

Recipe

  • 1 in a large salad bowl, place lettuce.
  • 2 combine next 6 ingredients in medium mixing bowl and stir well.
  • 3 pour over lettuce, toss well, serve immediately.

Simple Seafood Marinade

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1 combine all ingredients in a plastic food storage bag or marinade dish.
  • 2 add 4- 6 oz seafood fillets of your choice.
  • 3 refrigerate for at least 40 minutes.
  • 4 discard marinade and broil seafood for 3 to 4 minutes on on each side or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Mystery Prize Chicken

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 14 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup

Recipe

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • put sunflower seeds and about 1/4 cup of the flour into a blender or food processor. blend until some of the seeds are completely pulverized into flour, but some of the pieces are still large enough to be crunchy. pour this mixture in a shallow dish or bowl and add the remaining 3/4 cup flour and the ground black pepper. mix together.
  • dredge the chicken in the flour mixture. heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. add the coated chicken and brown for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side. (note: you're not cooking the chicken with this step, just 'crunchifying' the flour and sealing in the juices so that the chicken stays tender while cooking). lay browned chicken pieces in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • in a medium bowl, mix together sour cream, cream of chicken soup and cream of mushroom soup. pour this mixture over the chicken, making sure that it gets under and around all of the chicken pieces. top with any remaining sunflower seed mixture.
  • bake at 350 degrees f (175 degrees c) for 1 hour or until chicken is cooked through and juices run clear.

Simple Scallops With Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • olive oil flavored cooking spray
  • 10 scallops
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves, for garnish (leaves only)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons red onions, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons cucumbers, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons carrots, finely diced

Recipe

  • 1 combine all ingredients for dipping sauce in a small mixing bowl and mix until sugar has dissolved. set aside.
  • 2 spray cooking oil in pan, heat pan on a medium heat then cook the scallops on both sides for about 4 minutes each side or until lightly brown.
  • 3 add cooked scalloped on individual tooth picks then garnish with cilantro leaves and sesame seeds.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup wheat germ (optional)
  • 3 cups rolled oats

Recipe

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • in a medium size mixing bowl sift together flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder.
  • in a large mixing bowl cream butter, white and brown sugars together until light and fluffy. dribble vanilla into the creamed mixture. beat the eggs, one at a time, into the mixture. add the sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture. beat until well mixed.
  • pour chocolate chips, wheat germ and oats into the mixture; fold into dough until well combined. drop the dough by rounded teaspoonful an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • bake 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are just slightly brown. the cookies will look undercooked but that is the correct consistency. cool on a wire rack.

Simple Savory Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 1/2 lbs sweet potatoes (about 4)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion, some set aside for topping (about 4)
  • salt, to taste
  • fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Recipe

  • 1 wash and scrub the sweet potatoes; pat dry.
  • 2 to bake the sweet potatoes, preheat the oven to 400 degrees f. place pricked potatoes on a foil-lined baking pan to catch any juices that leak, then into the preheated oven and cook for 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are fully cooked and tender, up to 1 hour.
  • 3 to cook the sweet potatoes more quickly, carefully prick each sweet potato about 6 times, place in microwave oven on a paper towel and cook on high 15 to 17 minutes, or until a knife is easily inserted into center of potatoes.
  • 4 when cool enough to handle, remove skin and any dark spots from potatoes. in a medium bowl, mash potatoes with butter and season with salt and pepper. stir in sour cream and scallions until well mixed. serve immediately sprinkled with reserved green onions on top.

  • 4 1/2 cups self raising flour, siftted
  • 300 ml lemonade, warm
  • 300 ml cream
  • 1 egg

  • 1 pre-heat oven to 200c and line baking tray with paper.
  • 2 combine all ingredients together in a large bowl and mix well.
  • 3 knead together until a soft dough and turn a floured board.
  • 4 roll dough out to about 3cm thick and cut scones with a scone cutter.
  • 5 place on tray and brush with egg and milk mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten flour
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 cup cold vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 8 cups cold water
  • 3 vegetable bouillon cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Recipe

  • 1 mix together the gluten flour and yeast.
  • 2 in smaller bowl, mix together the 1/2 c vegetable broth, soy sauce, olive oil and garlic.
  • 3 pour the wet into the dry and stir until most of the moisture has been absorbed. use your hands to knead the mixture for about 3 minutes, until the dough is elastic.
  • 4 divide with a knife into three equal pieces and then knead those pieces in your hand just to stretch them out a bit.
  • 5 fill a stockpot with the water, bouillon cubes, and soy sauce. add the wheat gluten pieces. cover and bring to a boil but watch carefully; you don't want it to boil for very long or the outside of the seitan will be spongy. try to catch it as soon as it boils, then lower the heat to a low simmer.
  • 6 partially cover the pot and let simmer for 1 hour, turning the seitan occasionally. turn off the heat, remove the lid, let sit for 15 minutes.
  • 7 remove from the broth and place in a strainer until it is cool enough to handle. it is now ready to be sliced and used.
  • 8 if you have extra, store in the cooking liquid in a tightly covered container or freeze in the marinade of your choice.

Simple Sesame Soy Oriental Noodles

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/2 lb udon noodles or 1/2 lb soba noodles
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
  • 2 -3 tablespoons soy sauce (more or less to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or 1 tablespoon rice syrup
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 2 -3 scallions, sliced

Recipe

  • 1 start cooking the udon noodles according to the package directions.
  • 2 in a bowl, whisk together the next 6 ingredients.
  • 3 when the noodles are done, drain and transfer to a large bowl; drizzle the sauce over the noodles; toss quickly.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe

  • sift together flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and salt. stir in condensed milk, vanilla and soft butter. blend well and fold in chopped nuts. chill well.
  • preheat oven to 375 degrees f (190 degrees c). line cookie sheets with foil.
  • roll the dough pencil thin and form in crescent shape. arrange cookies on the cookie sheet.
  • bake on top rack of the oven for 12 minutes until set, do not brown. let the cookies cool on pan. while still warm roll the cookies in leftover powdered sugar.

  • 1/2 cup kraft signature classic herb salad dressing, divided.
  • 1 small yellow pepper, seeded and thinly sliced.
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced.

Recipe

  • 1 heat 1/4 cup of the dressing in large non stick skillet.

  • 10 boneless skinless chicken breasts (4 ounces each)

  • 1 to prepare chicken:.
  • 2 rinse chicken breasts. pat dry with paper towels. trim off any visible fat. place half of chicken breasts in 3 or 4 quart slow cooker. sprinke with half of chicken seasoning. drizzel with 1 tablespoon vinegar. add remaining chicken breasts. sprinkle with remaining seasoning. drizzle with 1 tablespoon vinegar.

  • 4 cover and cook on high heat setting 2 1/2 hours or until chicken is cooked through. (note: do not overcook, or chicken will be dry.) remove chicken to platter. discard liquid in slow cooker. drizzle remaining 2 tablespoons vinegar over chicken.

  • 1 head savoy cabbage, shredded
  • 2 fresh cayenne peppers, finely chopped

  • 2 add the garlic and peppers and saute for 1 minute.

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 10 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese or 8 ounces colby-monterey jack cheese

  • sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • chopped tomato (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2 cook the breakfast sausage as directed on the package. crumble and drain.
  • 3 in a large bowl combine the eggs, milk, dry mustard, pepper, and salt. mix thoroughly.
  • 4 lay half the bread cubes in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 casserole dish.
  • 5 add half the cheese and sausage to the casserole dish along with half of any of the optional ingredients if desired.

  • 18 prepared meatballs, i usually use frozen
  • 420 g condensed tomato soup
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • chopped parsley (to garnish)

Recipe

  • 1 heat meatballs as directed on pkt.
  • 2 place soup & sour cream in a pan and whisk to combine, add meatballs and cook over a moderate heat until meatballs are heated through.
  • 3 sprinkle with parsley to serve.

Special Cereal Bars Ii

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 4 cups high protein crisp rice and wheat cereal
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup white corn syrup
  • 2 cups butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Recipe

  • combine cereal and coconut in a medium size bowl.
  • combine peanut butter and peanuts in a large mixing bowl.
  • heat the sugar and corn syrup over a medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved. pour this mixture into the bowl with the peanut butter; mix well.
  • pour cereal mixture into the liquid mixture; mix well. press the mixture into an ungreased 10x15 inch pan.
  • melt the butterscotch and chocolate chips over a medium-low heat; mix well. spread the mixture over the pan of cereal mixture. let cool before cutting into bars.

  • 1 lb bulk lamb sausage
  • 26 ounces spaghetti sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 24 ounces cottage cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 -2 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 9 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

  • 1 in a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink and drain.
  • 2 stir in spaghetti sauce and water. simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • 3 meanwhile, in a large bowl combine the eggs, cottage cheese, parmesan, parsley and seasonings.
  • 4 spread 1/2 cup meat sauce into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

Simple Sausage Casserole

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 kg potato (any potatoes that you like, and are good for mashing will do fine)
  • 40 g butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 750 g beef chipolata sausages (i sometimes use regular sized bbq sausages,)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (try to use a plain type of bbq sauce, or the taste may overpower)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (35 g) package french onion soup mix
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

Recipe

  • 1 pre heat oven to 200c.
  • 2 boil potatoes until soft, drain then add the butter and milk ( i always heat the milk first). mash until smooth. set aside.
  • 3 heat oil in a deep frying pan over a medium heat. add onion and cook until tender.
  • 4 add sausages and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned. (if using regular sized sauaages, once they are brown cut them into bite size pieces).
  • 5 whisk ketchup, bbq sauce, worcestershire sauce, soup mix, flour and water together in a jug. making sure there's no lumps of flour.
  • 6 stir into sausages, and then bring to the boil.
  • 7 spoon mixture into a two litre casserole dish. top with potato. then sprinkle the cheese over the top.
  • 8 bake for 20 - 25 minutes, or until cheese is golden.
  • 9 enjoy.

Simple Sesame Noodles

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb organic thin noodles, cooked & drained*
  • 1/4 cup organic soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons organic sugar
  • 4 cloves organic garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons organic rice vinegar

  • 1 place broth into your favorite soup pot. heat broth on medium.
  • 2 meanwhile, in a food processor (if you don't have one, use a blender), chop the onion and garlic, using 1 second pulses until well chopped, but not mushy, about 8 pulses.

  • 4 you should have just about 1 cup of salsa.

  • 1 (20 ounce) package simply potatoes steakhouse seasoned diced potatoes
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder

  • 1 first, make your filling. heat 1 tb of the vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a wide, shallow skillet. cook the diced potatoes according to the package's stovetop directions, stirring occasionally, until they begin to turn crispy and golden-brown. sprinkle the curry powder over the cooked potatoes and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  • 2 mash the cooked, seasoned potatoes lightly with a ricer or potato masher until they begin to break into smaller bits--you want a crumbly mash with some texture, not smooth potatoes. add the frozen peas, stir, and allow the warmth of the potatoes to thaw the peas. your filling is now ready.
  • 3 now assemble your samosas! lay an egg roll wrapper in front of you so that a corner is facing toward you. place 2 tb or so of filling off-center in the wrapper. now fold the wrapper over to cover the filling and press to seal the edges. if the edges are a bit dry, you can use a bit of water (a dab will do!) to help you seal the edges. work your way through all of the wrappers, setting each filled samosa aside on wax paper, and covering them with a moist paper towel. now you're ready to cook.
  • 4 retrieve that skillet you were using, and add the remaining portion of oil. heat this over medium. when it's ready, add 3-4 samosas, giving each samosa an inch or so of room in the skillet. allow these to cook until golden brown on one side, then turn them over and do the same. remove fried samosas to a plate lined with paper towels. serve fresh, with or without a dipping sauce. enjoy!

  • 4 slices salami (the larger slices like the oscar meyer prepackaged)

  • 2 while the onions cook, cut a small slit in the middle of each salami slice. if you don't do this, once the salami starts to cook, it will curl up.

  • 4 slather mustard on each slice of bread.
  • 5 place 2 slices of the salami and half the onions on a slice of bread and top with a slice of bread. do the same for the second sandwich.

  • 1 1/4 ounces onion soup mix, lipton's divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, completely adjustable per your tastes
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 10 ounces heinz beef gravy, jar
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 -4 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 -4 teaspoons ketchup or 2 -4 teaspoons tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup mushroom, sliced

  • 1 patties:.
  • 2 preheat oven to 350. line a baking sheet with foil and spray of nonstick cooking spray or use a little oil.
  • 3 in a medium bowl mix crumbs, 1/2 of onion soup packet, salt and pepper and 1/4-1/3 of the finely diced onion. mix to incorporate then add ground beef and egg. mix gently to blend. form into 4 oblong patties.
  • 4 place patties on prepared baking sheet and put in preheated oven for about 35-40 minute turn patties halfway through cook time.
  • 5 gravy:.
  • 6 in a medium to large skillet (with a lid or you can use foil) over medium heat, melt butter and add remaining diced onion--this would be a good point to saute mushrooms if you are adding them. season with salt and pepper and saute until soft but not browned.
  • 7 add jar of gravy and remaining 1/2 packet of onion soup mix and mustard powder. add 2/3 c water and stir to make sure the soup mix is dissolved.
  • 8 taste the gravy after heating through--if you are happy with it stop. if you want to --- add in teaspoonfuls of worcestershire sauce and ketchup to taste. try 1 tsp of each at a time, tasting after each addition.
  • 9 remove cooked patties from oven and nestle into the pan of gravy. cover with lid or foil and over medium/low heat let them warm through for 15-20 minute
  • 10 i served this with a super cheat cast of characters. bob evans mashed potatoes, bird's eye corn and broccoli, carrot and cauliflower blend in the microwave bags. don't forget to salt and pepper your veggies, makes a huge difference with frozen veggies.
  • 11 i do think that the patties are great make aheads and freezable. the gravy is pretty fast to whip up whenever you need a fast filling meal.

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • in a 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan, spread the coconut out in a thin layer. toast at 350 degrees f (175 degrees c), stirring and shaking often to toast evenly, until golden about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • in a small sauce pan, mix the sugar, honey, cream, butter and salt. cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the syrup reaches 248 degrees f (121 degrees c) on a candy thermometer (or when a drop or two dropped into a cup of cold water will form a firm ball that will not flatten when removed from water).

  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped (i have used semisweet chocolate chips)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter and let cool for the pie crust. preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 to make crust: combine, cracker crumbs, cooled butter and sugar in a bowl. mix well and transfer to a 9-inch pie plate. press evenly over the bottom and sides of plate.
  • 3 bake pie shell until firm about 10 minutes. cool completely on a wire rack.
  • 4 for filling: bring cream to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • 5 place chocolate in a bowl; pour cream on top. let sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  • 6 whisk in eggs and vanilla.
  • 7 pour chocolate mixture into crust.
  • 8 bake until set, about 25 minutes. cool on a rack.
  • 9 just before serving, preheat broiler to high. set an oven rack 5 inches from heat source.
  • 10 spread marshmallows over top of pie. broil until toasted watch carefully to prevent scorching - only takes about 20-30 seconds.

Simple S'more Brownie Tarts

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (20 ounce) package fudge brownie mix
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 egg
  • 12 small individual graham cracker tart shells
  • 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate morsel

Recipe

  • 1 prepare brownie batter by blending the brownie mix, water, canola oil and egg until moistened (about 40 strokes).
  • 2 place graham cracker tart shells on a baking sheet.
  • 3 fill each tart shell with brownie batter.
  • 4 bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  • 5 immediately sprinkle with a few marshmallows and some chocolate chips.
  • 6 bake 3-5 minutes longer until marshmallows are puffed and golden brown.

Simple Roasted Butternut Squash Cinnamon Soup

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 large butternut squash (at least 2 1/2 lbs)

  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 -2 pinch cinnamon

  • 1 roast the butternut squash, flesh side down a lightly oiled roasting pan for 40 to 45 minutes in a 425 degree oven.
  • 2 in the mean time, sautee the onion, ginger, and garlic in butter until soft.
  • 3 add the broth, simmer for ten minutes.
  • 4 add pulp from the butternut squash (that you've scooped out).
  • 5 puree in a food processor or blender (or i use a mixing wand right in the pot).
  • 6 return to pan.
  • 7 add cream, salt, pepper, and a pinch or 2 of cinnamon.
  • 8 simmer until heated through.

Simple Rice Breakfast

  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 sheet nori
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce

Recipe

  • 1 combine rice, water and butter in rice cooker and turn on.
  • 2 after rice is done cooking, crack and beat the eggs. pour on top and leave for 1 minute.
  • 3 plate it, shred the nori over it and toss with soy sauce.

Simple Roman Pizza Dough

Total Time: 25 hrs Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 24 hrs

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups luke warm water, plus
  • 2 tablespoons water, luke warm
  • 3 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 5 cups unbleached flour
  • 1/4 cup semolina flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Recipe

  • 1 set your bread machine to the dough setting for a 1 lb. loaf.
  • 2 place the ingredients in the breadmaker in the order listed above. start the bread machine.
  • 3 after the dough cycle is complete, transfer the dough to a floured counter and form it into a ball.
  • 4 place the ball in a bowl that has been coated with olive oil. roll the ball around to coat with olive oil.
  • 5 let the dough sit at room temperature for 30 minute cover and put it in the refrigerator over night.
  • 6 the next day, divide the dough into 6 balls. i use a scale and weigh the dough, but you can eyeball it if you like. do not over work the dough.
  • 7 rub each ball with olive oil.
  • 8 if you do not plan to use each ball the same day, place each ball in individual freezer bags and refrigerate (up to 2 days) or freeze (up to 3 months).
  • 9 allow the dough to sit at room temperature for 2 hours before making the pizza.
  • 10 roll on a floured surface with a rolling pin and also stretch with your hands to shape the dough.
  • 11 heat the oven to 425 deg.
  • 12 i prefer to use a pizza stone. sprinkle the stone with semolina and place it in your oven as it heats up.
  • 13 roll the dough with a rolling pin and you may also stretch it with your hands. once it is shaped, lightly coat the dough with olive oil to prevent your dough from soaking up all of the sauce.
  • 14 top with sauce and ingredients. i would only use two ingredients since the dough is thin.
  • 15 bake for 10 minute.
  • 16 top with provolone or mozzerella cheese.
  • 17 bake another 5 minute or until the bottom is lightly brown.

Simple Ruz Bukhari

Simple Rosemary Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, more
  • flour, for kneading
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/4 cups water

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour, salt and rosemary in a large bowl.
  • 2 stir in water and oil until dough comes together.
  • 3 turn a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth, about 5 minutes, dusting surface lightly with flour as needed.
  • 4 place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 30 minutes at room temp or up to 2 hours in the fridge.
  • 5 heat a 10" to 12" cast iron or other heavy skillet over medium heat until a drop of water sizzles off on contact.
  • 6 on a lightly floured surface, divide the dough into 6 portions.
  • 7 roll each piece into 8" round, put in the heated skillet and cook until golden brown spots appear on the bottom and the bread begins to puff, 1- 2 minutes.
  • 8 flip the bread, and cook until spots appear, then transfer to a plate (cover with a towel to keep warm).
  • 9 repeat the cooking process with the remaining 5 dough portions.

  • 2 stir for 10 minutes, bringing to just a boil.
  • 3 add raisins, then lower heat.
  • 4 let simmer 1 hour.

Simple Rice-cooker Polenta With Green Peas

  • 2 -3 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese

  • 1 place the polenta, water, and bullion in your rice cooker. select the porridge setting and start it going.
  • 2 when the polenta is done, stir in the cheese and frozen peas. stir well to mix.
  • 3 that's all there is to it! just a couple of tips: add the peas and cheese as soon as the polenta is done, so it's hot enough to melt the cheese. make sure the peas are still frozen, and the heat of the polenta will cook them perfectly.

Simple Rotini Macaroni Salad

  • 1 (12 ounce) box rotini smart taste pasta (or any short cut pasta)
  • 1 1/4 cups good quality mayonnaise
  • 1 (8 1/2 ounce) can peas and carrots, drained and rinsed
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 parsley, chopped
  • 3 chopped hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans chunk solid white tuna packed in water, drained

Recipe

  • 1 make dressing:.
  • 2 in a small bowl combine olive oil, vinegar, onion, sugar, and salt and pepper. mix to combine, set aside. note: you can do this in advance and refrigerate.
  • 3 bring large pot of salted water to boil for pasta, cook pasta according to package directions (tender). drain, and return to hot pot.
  • 4 to the pasta add the peas and carrots, dressing, mayonnaise, and any or all of the optional ingredients. toss well to combine. taste for seasoning, add more salt and/or pepper if needed.
  • 5 transfer to serving bowl. garnish with chopped parsley.
  • 6 enjoy!

  • 2 blend in flour and rosemary.

Simple Ropa Vieja In The Crockpot

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 lbs flank steaks (one big flap)
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons sofrito sauce
  • 1 ounce goya sazon tropical
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce

Recipe

  • 1 season flank steak with salt and pepper and sear/brown on both siides. place in crockpot.
  • 2 add remaining ingredients (except onion and bell pepper) and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
  • 3 saute onion and bell pepper until translucent. add to crockpot.
  • 4 cook for another 4 hours on low or another 2 hours on high.
  • 5 ropa vieja is done when you can shred it easily with two forks.
  • 6 serve over yellow rice, with or without fried plantains.

oatmeal-walnut-raisin chewies

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened nut and grain granola

Recipe

  • place 1 oven rack in the upper third of the oven and 1 rack in the lower third of the oven. preheat oven to 375 degrees f (190 degrees c). coat 2 large baking sheets with cooking spray. on a microwavable plate, spread the walnuts and rolled oats. microwave on high for 2 minutes. stir and check for toasting. microwave for an additional 2 minutes on high and stir. the nuts and oatmeal should now be nicely toasted. dump in a large bowl.
  • in the food processor bowl fitted with a steel blade, combine the sugars, butter, eggs and vanilla. process until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds. in a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. spoon the flour mixture on top of the batter. pulse 3 or 4 times to mix.
  • scrape the batter into the walnut-oatmeal mixture. add the raisins and granola. fold the ingredients together.
  • drop the cookies the sheets using 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie. bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are just beginning to brown but the middles still look a little soft. cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes and then transfer to a rack.

  • 1 (10 ounce) bag baby spinach
  • 1 cup red onion
  • 1 cup green bell pepper
  • 10 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup cucumber
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas

Recipe

  • 1 first rinse your lettuce and add to bowl.
  • 2 next add sliced red onion, sliced bell pepper, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes cut in halves, and chick peas.
  • 3 finish with your favorite fat free dressing and if you want some crunch add chow mein noodles and sunflower kernels.

Simple Roast Turkey With Rich Turkey Gravy

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 (16 lb) whole turkey, at room temperature 1 hour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 7 -8 cups turkey stock
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2-2 tablespoons vinegar

Recipe

  • 1 put oven rack in lowest position and preheat oven to 450°f rinse turkey inside and out, then pat dry. sprinkle turkey cavities and skin with salt and pepper. fold neck skin under body and secure with metal skewers, then tie drumsticks together with kitchen string and tuck wings under body.
  • 2 put turkey on rack in roasting pan. add 1 cup water to pan and roast without basting, rotating pan halfway through roasting, until thermometer inserted into fleshy part of thighs (test both thighs; do not touch bones) registers 170°f, 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 hours.
  • 3 carefully tilt turkey so any juices from inside large cavity run into roasting pan, then transfer turkey to a platter, reserving juices in roasting pan. let turkey stand, uncovered, 30 minutes (temperature of thigh meat will rise to 180°f).
  • 4 make gravy while turkey stands:.
  • 5 pour pan juices through a fine-mesh sieve into measuring cup (do not clean roasting pan), then skim off and discard fat. (if using a fat separator, pour pan juices through sieve into separator and let stand until fat rises to top, 1 to 2 minutes. carefully pour pan juices from separator into measure, discarding fat.).
  • 6 straddle roasting pan across 2 burners, then add remaining cup water and deglaze roasting pan by boiling over high heat, stirring and scraping up brown bits, 1 minute. pour through sieve into measuring cup containing pan juices. add enough turkey stock to pan juices to bring total to 8 cups (if stock is congealed, heat to liquefy).
  • 7 melt butter in a 4-quart heavy pot and stir in flour. cook roux over moderate heat, whisking, 5 minutes. add stock mixture in a stream, whisking constantly to prevent lumps, then bring to a boil, whisking occasionally. stir in any turkey juices accumulated on platter and simmer 5 minutes. season gravy with salt and pepper, then stir in vinegar (to taste).

Italian Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 teaspoons instant espresso powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup hazelnuts - toasted, skinned and coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate

Recipe

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c).
  • blend flour, brown sugar, cornstarch, 1 tablespoon espresso powder and salt in a food processor. add butter and vanilla. using the pulse cycle-or pressing on/off button on your food processor, process until mixture resembles coarse meal. add nuts; blend until finely chopped. transfer dough to floured work surface. knead just until dough comes together.
  • divide dough in half. press each half into 9-inch-diameter tart pan with removable bottom.
  • bake at 350 degrees f (175 degrees c) until deep golden brown, about 25 minutes. transfer to a rack and let cool for 2 minutes then remove sides of pan. cut each shortbread round into 24 wedges. cool completely.
  • mix 2 tablespoons hot water and remaining 1 teaspoon espresso powder in small saucepan. add chocolate. stir over medium-low heat until chocolate is smooth. remove from heat. cool slightly. drizzle chocolate mixture over cookies. let stand until chocolate sets.

Simple Ramen Stir Fry

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles (your favorite flavor)
  • 1 cup diagonal cut celery
  • 1 cup diagonal cut carrot
  • 1 cup slice onion
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 sliced hot chili pepper (optional)
  • 1 (10 ounce) can mushroom soup (optional)
  • 1 cup cooked meat (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 boil ramen noodles (without seasoning packet) 4 minutes and drain.
  • 2 in skillet saute celery, carrots and onion about 6 minutes on high until texture you like--crunchy or soft.
  • 3 add seasoning packets and soy sauce; stir well and add noodles. sometimes i do it with soup, sometimes not--i like it both ways.

Simple Sag Aloo (indian Potato And Spinach)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 8 medium potatoes, unpeeled and cut into cubes
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, deseeded and cut into strips
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 400 g frozen spinach

Recipe

  • 1 defrost the spinach and drain well. squeeze it to get rid of as much moisture as possible.
  • 2 meanwhile, boil the cubed potatoes until they are almost cooked through (but not falling apart). drain well.
  • 3 heat the oil in a large pan or wok and, when hot, add the potatoes and all the spices, stirring to coat everything.
  • 4 when the potatoes have started to crisp up slightly, add the garlic and tomatoes and stir for a few more seconds, then add the spinach.
  • 5 if using fresh spinach, you want it to be just wilted, or with frozen, warmed through.
  • 6 taste and adjust seasoning as required then serve immediately.
