Sherried Minty Cherries

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb sweet cherries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup dry
  • 3 tablespoons creme de menthe

Recipe

  • 1 cut cherries in half and pit them, working over a bowl to catch the juices. set aside.
  • 2 in a small heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the sugar and 3/4 cup of to boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
  • 3 continue boiling, without stirring, until the liquid is reduced about 5 minutes.
  • 4 add the cherries and their juices to the pan, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the cherries are just heated through and slightly softened, about 1 minute.

  • 7 spoon the warm cherries and sauce over ice cream.
