Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1 medium tomato, chopped (optional)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 4 ounces v 8 vegetable juice (tomato juice or water can be used)
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (spicy optional)
- 1/8 teaspoon chili powder (spicy optional)
Recipe
- 1 spray cooking spray in medium skillet.
- 2 brown ground beef.
- 3 remove ground beef, drain, and set aside.
- 4 in same skillet, cook onion until soft.
- 5 add chopped tomato, and cook until soft.
- 6 add garlic, salt, and pepper to cooked onions and tomato stirring for 30 seconds.
- 7 add tomato sauce, ketchup, v-8, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice to skillet with onion and tomato heating through until bubbly.
- 8 return ground beef to this skillet with sloppy sauce.
- 9 mix well, and heat through.
- 10 add optional spicy seasonings to taste.
- 11 spoon on warmed buns.
