Sloppy Joe Pizza Pockets

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 35 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb frozen pizza dough, thawed
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • salt
  • pepper

Recipe

  • 1 heat olive oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat.
  • 2 add bell pepper, onion, and pinch of salt and pepper.
  • 3 cook, stirring occasionally, until softened. (about 5 mins).
  • 4 add the turkey and cook over medium high heat until turkey is cooked through.
  • 5 stir in the pizza sauce and worcestershire sauce.
  • 6 season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 7 let cool completely.
  • 8 preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • 9 lightly grease baking sheet with olive oil.
  • 10 divide the dough into quarters.
  • 11 roll out and stretch each piece into an 8 inch round.
  • 12 place the rounds on the baking sheet, with about 1/3 hanging over the edges.
  • 13 mound a packed cup of the turkey mixture each round leaving a 1/2 inch border.
  • 14 top with cheese.
  • 15 fold dough over the filling and crimp the edges together to seal.
  • 16 cut a small vent in the top of each pocket for ventilation.
  • 17 bake until puffed and golden (about 15-20 mins).
