- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

- in a large bowl, cream together butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. add the eggs one at a time, and beat well after each addition.
- sift and measure flour, and reserve two tablespoons. mix remaining flour with soda and spices; stir into the creamed mixture.
- dredge raisins in the 2 reserved tablespoons of flour, then stir them into the batter along with the walnuts.
- drop dough by tablespoonfuls lightly greased baking sheet. bake at 375 degrees f (190 degrees c) for 8 to 10 minutes. remove and cool cookies on a wire rack.
