Slippery Noodles, Pennsylvania Dutch In Origin

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons crisco
  • 1/2-3/4 cup hot water

Recipe

  • 1 whisk dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  • 2 cut in crisco as for pastry until it resembles crumbs.
  • 3 stir in enough hot water to make a dough almost the consistency of pie crust.
  • 4 turn floured surface, knead briefly and then roll to desired thickness.
  • 5 cut into squares.
  • 6 slip into hot simmering broth one at a time.
  • 7 simmer, uncovered, until tender about 15 minutes.
