Skillet Sauerkraut With Frankfurters

Total Time: 18 mins Preparation Time: 8 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 (27 ounce) can sauerkraut, well drained (rinse if desired)
  • 1 cup water or 1 cup chicken broth (i use the broth for more flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed, lightly crushed
  • 2 medium cooking apples, cored and cut in wedges
  • 1 lb frankfurter
  • minced parsley (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 in large skillet combine sauerkraut, water, sugar and caraway seeds.
  • 2 tuck apple wedges, skin side out, into sauerkraut.
  • 3 place frankfurters on top.
  • 4 cover; simmer 10 minutes or until apples are tender but not mushy and frankfurters are heated through.
  • 5 sprinkle with parsley.
