Seared Ahi Tuna Tartare With Avocado

Ingredients
- 6 ounces ahi tuna steaks
- 3 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large avocado, peeled, pitted, and diced
- 1 jalapeno chile, seeded, deveined and minced
- 1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/3 cup red onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped (optional)
Recipe
- 1 brush the tuna with 1/2 tb. of the oil and sprinkle it with salt and pepper.
- 2 put a heavy skillet on high heat for a few minutes, then sear the tuna for about 3 minutes on each side. the tuna should be brown on the outside and nearly opaque on the inside.
- 3 let the tuna cool, then chop it into small pieces.
- 4 combine all the ingredients, stirring just to blend.
- 5 salt and pepper to taste, and chill.
- 6 serve with tortilla chips or baguette slices.
