Spicy Onions And Bratwurst

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced and separated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or more if you really like garlic)
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 6 fresh bratwursts
  • 6 hoagie rolls, split

Recipe

  • 1 place oil in large frying pan and heat.
  • 2 add all ingredients except brats and rolls.
  • 3 saute over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or until onions are soft and carmelized.
  • 4 while onions are sauteing, bring water to boil and add bratwurst.
  • 5 reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until bratwurst is firm and cooked.
  • 6 drain.
  • 7 can be eaten as is or broil or grill brats until browned.
  • 8 pile on onions.
  • 9 enjoy!
